It might be one of the most star-studded events of the year, but Paris Hilton certainly didn't care who saw as she cuddled up to her boyfriend River Viiperi in Cannes on Thursday night. 

The pair looked in need of a hotel room as they put on an extremely passionate PDA at the Gotha Club.

Looking delighted Paris, 32, squealed and giggled as 21-year-old River kissed her neck and lifted her up.

At one point, the hotel heiress, who showed off her slim figure in a red dress for the night out, lifted her knees up to her chest as she sat down so she could passionately embrace her beau.

And despite the pair being out with a group of stars including Cara Delevingne and Georgia May Jagger, the couple appeared entirely unperturbed about who saw them.

While Paris makes an appearance at Cannes almost every year, this year she is there to promote the release of The Bling Ring - a film based on the true story of a group of fame-obsessed teenagers who tracked the whereabouts of celebrities and robbed their homes.

Paris, whose home was one of those targeted by the group, has a cameo role in the film but admitted she's still coming to terms with the devastating events - which took place between 2008 and 2009 - and can't bring herself to watch the finished film.

She said: 'It's [the robbery] still hard for me to deal with. I haven't seen the film yet, but I'll see it at the premiere. I'm going to have to close my eyes for fear of seeing what they really did. It still horrifies me.'

Paris was the gang's first target and they made off with millions of dollars of items and treasured possessions.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she said: 'They came to my house five times, stole millions of dollars of my things: Birkin bags, family heirlooms, jewellery that was in my family for years, and then they sold it on Venice Beach like a yard sale. 

'I didn't get a cent back in insurance money, and I will never be able to replace those things.'

Other celebrities who were burgled include Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox, Audrina Patridge and Orlando Bloom. 

The film - which stars Emma Watson, Taissa Farmiga, and Leslie Mann - was shot at Paris' property in Calabasas, California and Sofia personally asked Paris if she could use her home as a shoot location for authenticity.

Paris revealed: 'Sofia came to one of my birthday parties and loved my house, and said it would be so much better to shoot here than try to re-create it in a set.

'I would never have done it for anyone else - I have a lot of respect for Sofia, an independent woman, an artist and a director.'

The Bling Ring is set for official release on June 14.
