Happy birth date: The children who turn 12 tomorrow on 12.12.12 and one was born at 12 minutes to 12am

Every child looks forward to celebrating their birthday.

But some youngsters have been particularly looking forward to today - because this morning some children have turned 12 on the unique date of 12.12.12.

Jack Kelly, Corey Lee Smith, Lauren Grosvenor and James Anderson are all celebrating their birthday on the numerically significant date.

Lauren Grosvenor will turn twelve-years-old on December 12, 2012. Lauren is pictured with her mum, Kerry Hinds, 34, step-dad, Jon Hinds, 46, and step-brother, Ben, 6

Lauren Grosvenor, from Soham, Cambridgeshire, will mark the once-in-a-lifetime occasion with a special fancy dress party with family and friends.

She said: 'I feel particularly lucky this year. It will be a birthday I will remember for the rest of my life.

'Everyone is talking about my birthday at school because it is 12.12.12.'

Mother Kerry Hinds, 34, said: 'It is a really special birthday. It is never going to happen again in our lifetime.

'She was not planned to be born on that day. It is amazing how it has worked out. And it is a good excuse for a party.'

Chesterfield schoolboy Jack was born at 12 minutes to 12am - and is particularly pleased that his birthday coincides with a teachers’ training day so he can have a fun-packed day of go karting with his friends.

'We’ve all been waiting for this birthday for a long time because all the twelves come together', said football mad Jack.

'All my friends know about the 12 thing and they think it’s really good. It's great that there is no school so I’ll be able to enjoy the day all day.

'I’ve got loads of things planned so that it will be a day I will always remember.'

Mother Diane, 43, said: 'When he turned 11 we were aware of all the 12’s coming together for his next birthday. Obviously we’re aware it’s unusual and it doesn’t happen to people very often.'

Jack’s father Shaun, a 46-year-old technical officer, joked: 'It really is amazing. I’m going to let him pick my lottery numbers on his birthday. It might bring us some luck.'

Meanwhile, fellow birthday boy Corey Lee Smith was born at 12 noon exactly.

Corey, of Rotherham, South Yorkshire, arrived at Sheffield’s Jessops Hospital at midday on the dot.

Father Jason said the Sheffield Wednesday fan’s target for the season is to score 12 goals for his youth football team.

James Anderson, of Dunoon, Argyll, will party with mother Gillian, 32, dad Scott, 40, 17-month-old brother, Struan, and sister Caitlin, three.

James’ birthday has stunned bookmakers Ladbrokes who said he had topped odds of 121,212/1 to match the date.

Spokesman David Williams, said: 'We doff our hats to his parents who had the foresight to plan for this historic day.'

Mother Gillian, said: 'The significance only dawned on us as we started thinking about how to celebrate his big day.

'It only seems like yesterday that I was heavily pregnant and in hospital getting ready to give birth to James. He was born at 9pm and weighed 8lbs 13oz.

'He tells me he’s been keeping it quiet at school but he’ll have to let the cat out of the bag now.'

But for Tayla Simms, who's celebrating her 12th birthday today with her family, the occasion is even more poignant.

Last year, the Stockport schoolgirl had to have life-saving surgery after doctors found she had a hole in her heart during a routine examination.

Tayla was having treatment for epilepsy when the problem was discovered.

She underwent an operation at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool in March 2011 and has since recovered.

Her mother Melissa said: 'We have a history of epilepsy in the family, and I took her to have her checked out to see if she might also have it.

'The specialist at the time confirmed that she had the condition but also referred her to see another specialist after saying she had a loud heart murmur. We had no idea she had a hole in the heart.

'She was losing weight and it became important that she had the surgery, but when she came round from the four-hour operation the first thing she asked me was if I was okay - which is typical of her.

'She was amazing and the maturity she showed when she came out of that surgery was staggering.

'This is a very special birthday because Tayla still struggles with her epilepsy and sometimes has trouble remembering things, but she is putting in the extra effort and always does it with a smile on her face.

'She is really determined to overcome any hurdle life can put in her way.'

On the day the four were born the United States Supreme Court handed out its ruling over the counting of ballets in Florida effectively ending the 2000 presidential election in favour of George W. Bush.
