Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley is finally dropping his ex-wife Avril Lavigne's name.
The 33-year-old Canadian filed legal documents on Thursday to officially revert to his own surname in a Los Angeles court three years after the pair divorced.
As her rocker ex made the change, Avril was spotted in New York pumping her new self-titled album on Katie Couric's talk show.

According to E! News it was previously unknown that Deryck had assumed Avril's surname after marrying in 2006.
The In Too Deep artist is said to have added Lavigne as a hyphenated middle name, but only took the time to finally rid himself of the moniker on Thursday in court.
The pair divorced in 2009 after three years of marriage.

Meanwhile, Avril looked to be in high spirits as she pumped her new album in New York.
The Girlfriend singer sported a leather jacket and high heeled pumps as she left the Katie Couric studios.
Showing off her slim figure the 29-year-old wore black leggings that displayed her thin pins in the autumn weather.

After her visit with Couric, Avril tweeted a snap of the two with the caption: 'katiecouric you are hot and fun i had so much fun with you. Thank you for my hello kitty'.
Meanwhile, Lavigne remarried earlier this summer with Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger.
Of her relationship with Whibley, Avril has said: 'Deryck and I are really good friends. We were just really young and we were together for six or seven years.
'But with Chad I was single for the first time and I was like "woo-hoo" ready to party. Then - bam - it just happened.'
