She committed a fashion faux pas stepping out in a pair of vertiginous heels labelled 'stripper shoes' at a recent screening, so it's good to see Dame Helen Mirren back in her usual sophisticated style.

The Oscar-winning actress wore a dazzling white dress with a pair of chic pointed heels to attend the premiere of Red 2 in New York, on Tuesday night.

The 67-year-old actress wore a demure white skater dress, with embellishment around the middle, with a white cardigan.

Helen added a flash of colour with bright red lipstick and a blood red manicure and sported a chunky gold cuff around her right wrist, while a silver watch sat on her left.

Her look was in keeping with her usually chic style, a far cry from her sartorial slip up last week.

Helen had raised eyebrows and her height by taking to the red carpet in Los Angeles in a pair of perspex platform heels.

Helen was joined by her co-stars and film crew members at the Museum of Modern Art to watch her film on Tuesday.

While Helen wore white, Catherine Zeta Jones decided to dazzle in black, thanks to a black Michael Kors gown.

Helen plays Victoria in the film, a secret agent who has come out of retirement and the job is a far cry from her critically-acclaimed portrayal of Queen Elizabeth in 'The Queen'.

Earlier this month she said in an interview with Canada.com: 'I love being a badass. It’s just the best. To lurch from being a queen to a badass is really cool.

'Victoria’s just a great … funny, surprising sort of character to see on screen because she hasn’t really been done before. It’s always sort of a miracle when you do something that hasn’t been seen.'

The film - a sequel to the 2010 action comedy - sees Catherine Zeta-Jones play spy Miranda Wood, a love interest to Bruce Willis's character Frank Moses.

Red 2 will hit cinemas in the UK on July 19.
