The Duchess of Cambridge is championing Britain's favourite fashion colours with her wardrobe, a survey has found.

In proof she's just like the rest of us when it comes to choosing her style, Kate's top choice of shades go hand in hand with those of the nation's women – with a preference for blue, red and an avoidance of too much pink.

Fashion website Dressipi asked 175,000 women what their most and least favoured colours were – and for them, as for Kate, blue came out top.

Some 38% of women said they preferred blue – in line with a study by Vogue last month which found Kate wears blue the majority - 24% - of the time.

She chose a blue Issa dress to announce her engagement at St James's Palace and also to make her landmark first speech for EACH Hospices in Suffolk.

And Kate's second-favourite colour, red, which she wears 13% of the time, is also a top choice with British women, with 24% saying it was their favourite.

But the feminine choice of pink is off the menu. Kate only wears it 7% of the time and the nation voted it one of their five least favourite colours.

Dressipi stylist Natalie Theo said: “Blues are fantastically serviceable. The idea that all women should and do love pink is outdated.”
