Adam Levine Tries to Clarify 'I Hate This Country' Comment

By Erin 0

During NBC’s hit singing show ‘The Voice’ last night, one of the show’s co-hosts Adam Levine muttered, “I hate this country” after one of his team members, country music singer Amber Carrington was “saved by America.”

His remark were captured by a hot-mic, while the cameras focused on country music star Blake Shelton.

Shelton’s team of three country singers remained.

Levine tweeted several dictionary entries on Twitter this morning, attempting to clarify his remarks:

joke-noun1.something said or done to provoke laughter or cause amusement, as a witticism, a short and amusing anecdote, or prankish act

hu·mor·less (hymr-ls) adj. 1. Lacking a sense of humor. 2. Said or done without humor

light·heart·ed Function: adjective 1 : free from care, anxiety, or seriousness : happy-go-lucky 2 : cheerfully optimistic

mis·un·der·stand Pronunciation: \(ˌ)mi-ˌsən-dər-ˈstand\ Date: 13th century 1 : to fail to understand 2 : to interpret incorrectly

Levine had a bad night, as voters cut his team members Judith Hill and Sarah Simmons from the show, but his remark was prompted by one of his team members winning – strengthening his case that he was only joking.

But he may have been reacting to the fact that voters chose to save his country star first, leaving his R&B singer and rock singer on the stage.
